Camera Detectors

SpyfinderCounter-Surveillance and Camera detectors is the opposite of having a surveillance system in place. Alot of our clients purchase cameras detectors for when they are traveling, especially to hotels. These small devices allow you to know if a hidden camera is in use and pinpoint its location.

There are a few different styles of camera detectors, the first is called a Spyfinder, this device uses a special lens to look through and while holding a button emits a flashing light that reflects off the lens of any camera, regardless of it being powered on or off. This Spyfinder can locate a wireless camera, hardwired camera, video camera, digital camera, etc.SC1

The other style of camera detectors are RF (Radio Frequency) detectors. These devices look for an RF signal coming from the camera. All wireless devices, including wireless cameras, emit a RF signal and this device picks up that signal. Once the signal is detected, you can turn the sensititivy down on the device and move in closer, allowing you to pinpoint where the device is located. Now a hardwired camera doesn't necessarily put out an RF frequency because its not sending the video signal wirelessly, however all hardwired camera put out a very low horizontal frequency in which a hardwired camera detector can detect from within a 6 inch to 12 inch sweep.

Almost all counter-surveillance devices are designed to be sweep devices, these sweep devices mean you need to walk around the room and sweep the walls, floors, ceiling, and every nook and cranny. You cannot simply walk into a room and automatically know where a camera is.
